What Do I Need To Start A Coffee Shop – We created this infographic for time-pressed coffee lovers who want strong coffee and want to stay on a tight budget. Many people call it the espresso maker because it brews strong and hard coffee and uses pressure to extract it. Let’s face it, a moka pot is similar to an espresso in many ways. Moreover, we can use it to prepare a beautiful latte or a delicious cappuccino or a flat white. Here’s the infographic, and at the end of the graphic, you’ll also have a written version of it.

Fill the base of your moka pot with hot water up to the line or slightly below. Never pass the mark.
Coffee Brands, Ranked From Worst To Best
Loosely fill the filter funnel with coffee grounds. Don’t pack the flour like we do with espresso. If you pack them, the coffee will not rise in the collector’s chamber. Or it will rise too slowly, and overextract.
Make sure the edge is clean and screw on the upper chamber on the boiler. If the rim is not completely clean, the pot will lose pressure.
Place the moka pot on the burner over low to medium heat. A gas stove is best. An electric stove also works, but you must use a heat diffuser.
If you used hot water, the coffee will start to flow after two minutes. If you used cold water, you should wait about 6-8 minutes until the upper reservoir is full.

Once the coffee starts to flow in the top carafe, immediately remove it from the heat. The remaining heat will be enough to finish the filtration. Some people leave the coffee on the stove until it is almost completely brewed, then cool the base with cold water to stop the brewing.

People refer to the moka pot as “oven espresso.” The term isn’t a complete misnomer, as the brewing method uses pressure during the brewing process, and the cup you get is bold, thick and flavorful, similar to espresso. That’s why we included this infographic in our Home Barista Espresso Guide. You can make great lattes and cappuccinos using Stove Espresso and you can drink it neat. However, true espresso is a special type of coffee that requires more pressure and controlled brewing temperatures.
