So, what do you need to bring to the DMV drivers test? Well…it depends on the state you live in, the type of license you want to get, and if you are a minor. We will explain all that and more in this article.
What you need to bring to the DMV office will be different from state to state depending on the requirements in your state. Let’s go through the most common documents:
The documents mentioned above must be submitted using original papers or certified copies. If you are unsure about any of the items mentioned above, go to the DMV website in your state.

Most states specify the exact number of each document you need to provide and which document can be used for what purpose. For example; you may need to bring two documents as proof of residence. A passport is not a proof of residential address but can be used as a basic proof of identity and legal presence.
In addition, some countries require original and secondary documents that together will serve as proof, and the requirements differ for citizens and non-citizens. For example; you may need to provide primary and secondary forms of proof of identity to prove that you are who you say you are.
For the document to be valid as proof it must contain your name, date of birth, and residential address. Any other important information that can help with identification and verification will be helpful. You should always bring the original paper if you can as copies will need to be certified before they are accepted.
The list of acceptable documents you can use as proof, for example, residency or identity card, varies by country, but these are accepted in all states as proof:

In addition to the documents mentioned above, you can also provide various documents to prove your residency. This includes, for example, your public school transcripts, mortgage or lease agreements, your income statement, or government or local government documents.
If your vehicle is not in perfect condition, the DMV inspector will stop the driving test. All states have a set of standards that a vehicle must adhere to in order to satisfy. Don’t make the mistake of showing up in a car that doesn’t meet the standards set by your country as you won’t be allowed to take the road test.
In other words – there’s a lot you need to check on your car before it’s test driven. The main idea is to go through this step-by-step check a week before the driving test to make sure you have time to fix/change if something is not working properly.
